We spend so much time looking at when and what we should be cleaning but this month we thought we would shake things up a little and see what is out there (if anything) about what days not to clean so here it is😊

According to folklore, it is considered bad luck to clean your house on New Year’s Day or on Mondays.

  • New Year’s Day: Sweeping, mopping, or doing laundry on this day is believed to “wash away” or “sweep out” your good luck and prosperity for the coming year.
  • Mondays: Cleaning on a Monday is said to drain your finances and sweep away the positive energy needed for your money flow.
  • After Sunset: Many cultures also warn against sweeping at night, as it can accidentally sweep out your luck and fortune along with the dirt.

While these traditions are steeped in folklore, discussions on platforms like Reddit and Facebook show that many people view these rules simply as a great excuse to take a day off and rest.

So there you have it folks give yourself some grace and take a day when you don’t feel the need to clean and just enjoy it!
